Antioch Baptist Church was built in 1922 and served as a source of inspiration and unity in Gloucester, VA. Since The Truth In The Spirit has been stewarding this historic House of God, we've been connecting with other community organizations, like the Fairfield Foundation, to discover the truths hidden here and encourage healing and unity in the community.
This House of God has been led by many leaders in the past, known and respected by The Truth In The Spirit. At Antioch, we continue to worship our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) through weekly worship services on Saturdays at 12:30pm (except for the 1st Saturday of each month), and we observe the annual Biblical Feasts in Leviticus chapter 23.
During Antioch Week, we will collect the stories of the descendants of those from the community known as the Piney Swamp, which includes the area on which Antioch sits as well as the surrounding neighborhoods. We will collect those oral stories via audio interviews to be archived at the College of William & Mary to be made available through their digital collections library. Contact us by completing the form below to sign up for an oral interview slot on August 2nd, 3rd or 4th, so that we can capture your story and that of your family members.
We would also like to make copies of pictures of the area from times gone by. All originals will be returned immediately, as we will simply scan them on site.
